The Academy’s 300-Hour, Master Herbalist, Online, Home-Study Certification Program is a professional training, designed to teach you the theory and practical applications of herbology, that can help anyone achieve optimal wellness. Our Master Herbalist (M.H.) herbal school, online training is a home-study program. The student communicates with his or her teacher by e-mail. The student is sent a series of testing materials and assignments that are completed and returned to the Academy for grading by our expert instructors. Our herbalist training program covers nine vital areas of knowledge.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS, TUITION, BOOKS & ENROLLMENT
Section #1: Human Anatomy & Physiology
Note: Students with health degrees in related fields like massage, nursing, medicine, etc., may be exempt from the A&P requirement.
This anatomy & physiology training, deals with all ten body systems affected by the use of herbs. The assignments are interspersed throughout Sections 2-6, allowing the student to complete the A&P requirement incrementally.
Subjects include the: Integumentary System, Endocrine System, Nervous System, Cardiovascular System, Respiratory System, Digestive System, Immune and Lymphatic System, Reproductive Systems, Urinary System and Musculoskeletal System.
Section #2– Herbal Theory and Practice
A very powerful and thorough herbalist training that includes: The history of herbal use, herbal classifications, chemical properties of herbs, herbal preparations, making herbal formulas, Western and Chinese herbs, yin and yang theories, individual herb descriptions and profiles, herbal help for specific health concerns, dosage & toxicity, herb storage.
Section #3 - Healthy Nutrition & Lifestyle
We need good nutrition to feed the ten systems of the body and to insure that the herbal preparations we use have the best chance of helping us. This section of herbalist training, teaches the Master Herbalist the basics of a good nutrition and lifestyle program, and, provides your clients with an easy to understand, do-it-yourself, "Wellness Charts Booklet" that can help anyone live a more healthful life. Your booklet includes:

Section #4 – Herbal Detoxification
From people who are chronically exposed to various forms of pollution, to those who may simply be chronically constipated from an over processed, junk food diet, an herbal detoxification program will turn out to be the best place to start for many of your clients. This section of your herbalist training will teach you:
The Need for Detoxification, The Danger of Toxic Overload, Origins of Detoxification, The Role of Herbs and Supplements, Herbal Education, When to Detoxify, How to Go on a Detoxification Program, What to Expect on a Detoxification Program, Organs of Detoxification and Elimination, Detoxifying Herbs and Herbal Detoxification Protocol
Section #5 – Diseases, Drugs and Herbs
Your herbal training continues with lessons about the common maladies that afflict mankind, how medical doctors treat them and how to treat these diseases with herbal medicines. This section also reveals the best ways to advise clients who, with medical supervision, may want to use both herbs and prescription drugs to achieve optimum wellness. You will also develop case analysis and cross referencing skills that will insure the safe and effective use of herbal therapies. This herbalist training includes:
Diseases and Their Medical Treatments, Diseases and Prescription Drugs, Drugs and Herbal Comparisons, Diseases, Single Herbs & Combination Herbal Protocols, Body Systems Herbology, Antibiotic, Anti-parasite & Anti-viral Herbs, Cancer Herbs, Adaptogen Herbs, Weight-Loss Herbs, Detoxification Program, Herbal Contraindications During Pregnancy, Forms of Herbal Preparations, Herbal Preparations and Their Potencies, Potential Herb-Drug Interactions and Specific Herb-Drug Interactions.
Section #6 – The Herbal Health Consultation
Through the use of an herbal health consultation questionnaire and other information supplied by your client, the student learns how to evaluate a client’s health, physical strengths, weaknesses and lifestyle, so that he or she can recommend the proper herbal nutrition to help the client achieve optimal wellness. Not a common training in other school's herbalism classes.
Section #7 - Herbalist Jurisprudence & Ethics
This herbalist training section discusses the things a Master Herbalist can and can’t do. We teach the student how to practice legally and how to avoid the practice of medicine. Consent forms are supplied to the student along with practical, real life suggestions for the legal and ethical practice of herbology.
Section #8 - Herbalist Practicum
The student is required to do 5-10 herbal consulting sessions with family and friends as part of their herbalist training. The student will do one session at a time and submit each session individually, for evaluation. Your instructor will review each session, give you constructive feedback and help you to hone your interviewing skills. Most students will acquire the confidence to proficiently evaluate even the most difficult cases.
Section #9 – Practice Building Strategies
Suggestions and strategies that include: Legal Issues, Office Location, Record Keeping, Practice Management, Ethical Issues, Marketing, Networking, Referrals, Money Issues, Fee Structure, The Internet, Problem Solving and Personal Development.
Upon successful completion of our herbalist training, the student will be awarded the Academy’s 300-Hour, Master Herbalist (M.H.) Diploma.
