Holistic Healing and You

Holistic Healing and You

Increasingly, patients and doctors are turning to the holistic approach of healing. Holistic healing, takes into account several factors such as the person’s whole body, her mind, spirit and even her emotions. According to the holistic healing philosophy, a person can experience healing by practicing proper balance in life. That’s because the whole person is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not functioning optimally, the other parts will be affected. This means that if a person has imbalances in their life (physical, emotional or spiritual) it will adversely affect their overall health. People need the holistic approach to healing because of the mental and physical stressors we all endure as a result of our fast paced lives.

As the saying goes” health is wealth”. A healthy lifestyle offers several benefits including increased longevity. A healthy lifestyle is not just about physical health, but it is also about emotional, spiritual and social health

There are a number of factors that play a crucial role in determining the overall health of a person. When there is a loss of balance, when positive energy is replaced by negative energy, it directly impacts your brain and thought processes, resulting in an adverse effect on your body.

Holistic healing takes into account several important factors such as mind-body integration, physical wellness, healing energies, nourishing the soul, self-realization and much more. There are many approaches to holistic healing that can help a person stay healthy and to stimulate the self-healing process.

The holistic approach makes use of all forms of health care. It could include both medical and alternative therapies when needed. So, for example, when a person suffering from migraine headaches visits a holistic medical doctor, before prescribing medication, she will take into account all possible factors that might be causing the headaches. Things like other health problems, sleeping habits, allergies, foods, diet, stress, etc. The doctor might administer drugs as part of a treatment plan to help the patient with symptom relief, but the treatment plan will also include holistic health modalities and lifestyle modifications to help prevent the headaches from recurring.

Holistic healing is also based on the principle that unconditional love and support is the most powerful healer. What’s more, every person is responsible for their own health and well-being. Here are the main principles of holistic healing:

Every person has innate healing powers.

The patient is a person and not the disease.

Healing is a team effort. It involves doctor and patient making use of a variety of health care practices and addressing all aspects of a person’s life. Medical intervention, nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, aromatherapy, detoxification, massage therapy, energy therapies, physical therapies, psychological counseling, etc., can all be used for the betterment of the patient.

Treatment is not just about suppressing symptoms, but fixing the root cause of the condition.

Every health care practitioner should try to understand the concept of holistic healing. Treating the whole person may be the most important key to success.
